Dr. Collazo is a board certified neurophysiologist/neuropsychologist. He earned his M.S. degree in Biological Psychology from the University of Georgia and a Ph.D. in neuropsychology from the University of Oregon before completing fellowships and postdoctoral training in neurophysiology and neuropsychology in the Psychiatry Department at the University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine. Dr. Collazo has received numerous honors and awards, including several University Merit Scholarships, the National Institutes of Mental Health Post-Doctoral Fellowship, the McDonnell-Hugh Foundation Post-Doctoral Fellowship, the University of California Chancellors Fellowship, the National Research Council/Ford Foundation Post-Doctoral Fellowship and the Laurel Scholarship Award. He has been an active researcher in techniques and studies involving electrophysiological brain and spinal cord stimulation and recording and has actively published on these subjects. He is a member of the International Neuropsycological Society, the American Psychological Association, the Society for Neurosciences and he is a Psi Chi member. Dr. Collazo has an active neurodiagnostic and evaluative and monitoring practice in San Diego, California with hospital affiliations at Alvarado Hospital Medical Center, Sharp/Grossmont Hospital Centers, Scripps-Mercy Hospital Centers and Palomar/Pomerado Hospitals. He also actively practices in the neurophysiological monitoring and evaluation of patients during brain and spinal cord surgery. Dr. Collazo regularly assists, as part of the surgical team, in the elaborate electrophysiological testing of patients with Parkinsons Disease and other movement disorders during surgery.
