Dr. Gabel is a certified neurophthalmologist. She graduated with honors from the State University in Oswego, New York and received her medical training at the University of Monterey, Mexico. She then did her residency training in ophthalmology at the Hospital Association for the Prevention of Blindness at the Dr. Luis Sanchez-Bulnes Hospital in Mexico, followed by a fellowship in neurophthalmology at the world-renowned Edward S. Harkness Eye Institute of Columbia gabel.jpg (22999 bytes)Presbyterian Hospital in New York. Dr. Gabel also completed a residency in internal medicine at Flushing Medical Hospital of the Albert Einstein Medical College in New York. Dr. Gabel has actively published in neurophthalmology. She is an active civic leader and has functioned as the Chief Physician for detention and prison systems in New York and is currently the Medical Consultant for the San Diego Jail System. Dr. Gabel is multi-lingual and is fluent in English, Spanish and Russian. She is the International Liaison for Asociacion Para Evitar La Ceguera En Mexico, I.A.P Hospital "Dr. Luis Sanchez-Bulnes".

Dr. Gabel practices medicine in San Diego, California and has hospital affiliations at Sharp/Grossmont Hospital, Children’s Hospital, Alvarado Hospital Medical Center and Scripps Hospital.

Dr. Gabel specializes in the evaluation and treatment of neurological conditions affecting the eyes, including such conditions as:

Dr. Gabel has a special interest in visual training to cope with visual problems resulting from stroke, trauma and tumors. She is also a liaison for Advanced Laser Refractive Surgery.
