Dr. Damon Smith is a board certified radiation oncologist. He graduated Cum Laude with a BA in Psychology from the University of California, San Diego. He received an MD degree from Hahnemann University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Smith completed a residency in radiation oncology at Kaiser Permanente Hospital, Los Angeles, California. Throughout his training, Dr. Smith received a number of honors and awards, including the USD Honors Scholarship, the Cal Grant Scholarship, Election to Membership in the Kappa Gamma Pi Honor Society, and honors and awards in the Hahnemann Department of Surgery and Department of Radiation Oncology. He is a former President of the HU AMA Student Chapter and a recipient of the ACRO Fellowship Award. Dr. Smith has been a dedicated researcher in radiation oncology and has actively published and presented to national and international societies in the field of radiation oncology. He is a former Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of California, San Diego Medical Center and he maintains membership in the American College of Radiation Oncology. Dr. Smith has an active practice in San Diego, with a specialty interest in the use of high dose rate brachytherapy for the treatment of cancer of the cervix, lung and esophagus, ultrasound guided brachytherapy for the treatment of prostate cancer and linac based and gamma knife radiosurgery.
